I wrote back in January about a California law that required anyone handling food to wear gloves. I thought it was a stupid law and had the possibility for a whole slew of unintended consequences. Well, it turns out that I was not alone. According to the LA Times, the California legislature has voted to overturn the law. The Senate voted 32 to 0 last Thursday and since the bill has already been approved by the California Assembly it now it goes before Governor Brown, who is expected to sign it.
A quick search on Amazon for “detox” brings up over 15,000 products. Everything from supplements to teas to diet books to foot pads show up. And it is to safe to say that every single one is a waste of time and money.

A new short documentary has been making the rounds on the internet about Sandwich Me In, a sandwich shop in Chicago that creates next to nothing in waste. I applaud Justin Brandy’s dedication, the guy isn’t just throwing his garbage into a recycling bin, he’s bringing everything home so that it get’s recycled properly.
